How I Manifested My TedX talk
What a dream to speak alongside such dynamic voices this weekend at #TEDxDelthorneWomen!
(All around the world, #TEDxWomen events were happening simultaneously. 😍)
Thank you so much for helping me make this happen by inspiring me with your story medicine.
Two year ago, when I decided to go all into my business as a speaker and storytelling coach, I got caught up in so many of the different strategies out there that I had forgotten my purpose.
Why am I even doing any of this?
While the photos can be beautiful, the only person who sees me breakdown behind closed doors is my amazing partner.
I have friends who have called me the “successful” one, without them realizing how much I’ve shed tears and pulled many long nights to complete my deadlines. And even with that, although I am paid to be a coach, most of my money goes right back to hiring others to help me move forward.
The morning of my talk, I woke up without kind words to myself.
“I’m not good enough.”
He turned to me and said, “None of us are good enough. That’s why we strive to do better.”
How often do we make this journey about us versus the people we can impact, even with the flaws we carry?
At the very root of my "Why," I felt called to help people who felt disconnected from their body and ancestral wisdom find ways to reconnect with themselves through movement and shared stories.
I did that through launching my online summits, hosting workshops, retreats, and eventually talking to people directly in my community about their needs so that I can continue creating services that filled a gap. Through these conversations, this made me realize how important it is for us to have support and accountability that helps to see our vision come to life.
So many people feel like they don't have anything worth sharing, often out of fear of judgement, and I'm here to lovingly challenge this belief. (After all, this work begins with the stories we’ve been telling ourselves!)
Envision your future self, then push past the discomfort to get closer to that version of you. I literally envisioned this same photo at one point in my imagination, wrote it down, and got to work to bring this version of myself to this realm. I met her with a LOT of resistance, too!
Building the confidence to tell our stories from an empowered place is where the work begins.
It's about speaking your truth, even if your voice shakes while accepting that not everyone is going to agree with what you have to say.
It’s about going for opportunities that scare you, regardless of the outcome.
It's launching that Podcast or Youtube Channel, even if you only get your relatives to be your main subscribers and your loyal fans in the beginning.
It's about committing to a date to share your expertise, even if only three people come to your party. One person in your audience could tell 5 of their friends, and it can ripple from there!
(Plus, every rejection is a redirection and failure is simply feedback.)
That project will eventually grow, as long as you stay committed to your purpose.
There are people who share a similar vision as you; they just need to see someone else bring it to life! Everything we create plants a seed, though one cannot expect a harvest overnight. 🌸
Don't wait for TEDx.
Speak where you can.
Get comfortable with rejection and messing up.
Launch that project that’s been collecting dust in your mind.
Make an impact, starting with just one person’s life.
Go out and share Your Story Medicine.
And remember, ancestors got your back!!!
(as long as you're putting in the work to meet them at least halfway!)
